As part of our one or two year acting courses, our students will have the opportunity to record a professional acting showreel before graduating. This is to help them show off their talent once they’re out in the industry looking for roles. Industry personnel such as casting agents and directors will review actor showreels in order to find the right actor for a role. You’ll want to make sure that yours is the best it can be when and that your best qualities as an actor come across. We will ensure that our graduates get the best possible chance with a high quality video showreel and personalised screen acting training.
Your new acting showreel will factor in elements such as proper lighting, balanced sound, HD quality image, and slick editing. But more importantly we will train you on how to deliver your best possible performance on camera. The showreel process is included within the screen acting part of our acting course. Our tutors will guide you through the process from start to finish while providing screen acting tuition that’s tailored to you.
Check out these examples below of our students and their acting showreel recorded at The Bridge.

“Studying at The Bridge has taught me so much about the different skills in acting and how it differs from person to person. My confidence in many aspects of theatre (such as improv, singing, and playing to the audience) has improved greatly due to The Bridge’s teaching and care! I really feel at home with the students and staff!”
Here are some questions that people often ask about acting showreels.
An acting showreel can consist of clips of previous screen acting work or dedicated scenes recorded specifically for the showreel. The purpose of the showreel is to showcase your ability and give the viewer a full impression of the kind of parts you could play. You’ll want to make sure you show off your emotional range as an actor by choosing scenes where you play contrasting characters. For instance, one scene could be a light-hearted comedy piece and the other could be a serious dramatic role.
A typical acting showreel is between 1-3 minutes long. You’ll want enough screen time to show off your acting abilities and casting type. However it shouldn’t be too long otherwise the viewer may be put off as people will often be viewing many different tapes back to back - such as directors casting a part. Make sure to get your acting range covered in that short time whilst also covering the kind of roles you would be best suited to.
Recording a showreel with no experience can be a daunting task so it’s good to get outside help. Here at The Bridge, our tutors will train you in screen acting and set you up with scene partners to record video clips with. The technical side of the filming and production process will be left to us so you can concentrate on delivering your best acting performance.
